Brayden’s First Birthday Party!

21 02 2012

As I mentioned in my last post Brayden just turned one! I can’t believe it. This last year has truly gone by in the blink of an eye. We celebrated his birthday a couple of weeks ago at Macfarlane Park in Tampa. It was far from a perfect day. It was cold and windy. Brayden has always been a happy baby and this bad weather had no effect on him. He had a blast and I think everyone else did too. Here are a couple of my favorite pictures from the party.

I haven’t posted in a while. A long while! My son Brayden just turned ONE last week. Man time flies. Anyways, I put a slideshow together of his first year. I hope you enjoy! It was made with music but the music got removed due to copyright laws….. sorry for the silence.

Slow Down!

This week, my class assignment was a portrait. After thinking of what to take a portrait of, I realized something…… In the terms of photography, there is a large “gray” area as to what makes a picture a portrait. Who or what should I use for my portrait???

Alina! Alina is Eddie and Nikki’s daughter. She is 18 months old and she can move!…! I wasn’t expecting an 18 month old to sit still for a portrait style photo shoot. So I just let her be and couldn’t wait to see what I would capture. She ran and jumped and laughed and ran some more. I took some very bad photos….terrible even! But I did capture a few of her that really shows off her personality.

These pictures are far from perfect. I touched them up a bit. Alina is a very happy child,  always laughing and playing and of course, running!  Angela and I always enjoy spending time with her.

Taste the Rainbow

I’m taking a beginners photography class, and I love it. It’s just one night a week for a couple of hours, but I’ve really learned a lot. One of my favorite parts of the class is our weekly photography assignment. The assignments make us use what we have learned and apply it to our photographs. Each week, everyone in our class sends our teacher one image, which he displays for us to see and critique.

This week our assignment was a product marketing photo.  It took me a few days to think of something. Finally, I thought “why not take a product photo of my favorite candy? Skittles!” But I couldn’t get an image I REALLY liked. While I took a break, Angela started coming up with some ideas for my Skittles photo. Together we came up with the photo below. I love it! This photo is the original. No cropping or editing. I think it shows off the colors so well, and just looks fun. (Yes, Angela and I sometimes have too much times on our hands).

Anyway, let me know what you think! Thanks for looking.

This is my first post. I’m very new to blogging and also new to photography. The purpose of this blog is for me to monitor my photography progress and to share my favorites with YOU. My friends, family, and peers please feel free to comment on anything you like or hate. Constructive criticism is appreciated. Like I said I want to get better. Enjoy!
